Jobs opportunity - Lyndeborough mulls quarry purchase
During the last half of the 19th century, white quartz was mined from a quarry atop Putnam Hill and the quartz was crushed and melted into what is known as Lyndeborough glass. Now, Lyndeborough has an opportunity to purchase the quarry, one of the last remaining symbols the glass factory that once dominated the town, but officials aren't sure that taking on the pit is worth the $85,000 investment.
